  1. Kia ora Archie, this is Kieryn from the Summer Learning Journey.
Well done on participating in the Summer Learning Journey and creating this post the SPCA charity!
I never knew that the SPCA was founded in England in 1824, or that it was brought to New Zealand with the first settlers, so thank you for sharing this new information with me!
Did you know that the SPCA helps over 40,000 animal lives each year! That is so many animals that have been sick or injured and were helped by such an amazing organisation.
Like you mentioned, the SPCA helps all different kinds of animals, from cats and dogs to horses and cows, and relies on the public’s support to maintain the charity.
Have you ever adopted an animal from the SPCA? If so, what kind of animal?
Have you ever had to call the SPCA to help an animal?
When I lived in Australia, I had to call the SPCA (or in Australia they call it the RSPCA) to help a kangaroo which had been attacked by a dog. The kangaroo was not in very good shape, and I watched over him until the SPCA arrived to help him out.
I was extremely thankful for everything the SPCA did to help out the injured kangaroo, and was so relieved when they were able to nurture him back to full health.
Thank you for creating this blog post. I look forward to seeing more content from you!
    Nga mihi
